Today was a great day of discovery for me. Just a few days into my summer vacation, I learned a significant number of new things about using technology in my teaching. For the first time, really, I came across the fundamental facts about edublogs, wikis, and several other educational tools, and I actually established an edublog for my 9th grade class next year, with a link to a wiki for the class. It was a fairly thrilling day; the discoveries came quickly over just a few hours time. I felt like I was lost in a whirlwind of revelations. All this happened in the cool and quiet of my air-conditioned apartment, while outside the mass of people went about their hot business in the 90 degree weather. At the same time as I was unearthing internet implements that could transform my teaching in September, a good part of Westerly was just trying to survive the wicked heat of June. In that sense, it was a day of discovery and good fortune for me.
