A GOOD LIFE
He tied his bright bow tie
with painstaking care,
just as the sun carefully
covered the town with light,
just as cars cautiously
consented to have their doors opened
each morning,
just as his coffee delicately
helped him awaken.
He sat at the table
with toast and raspberry jam
while the clock on the wall
told the time precisely.
