POEM: Splurging

He decided to splurge,
so he used several squares of paper towels
instead of just one.
He felt them nestle in his hands
like soft birds,
and when he used them
as napkins at lunch,
they brushed his mouth and hands
like smooth wings.
While he was sitting in his house
spoiling himself,
outside he could see rain
effortlessly descending to the grass.
